For the past six (6) years, Professor Earl D. Simmons, Sr. has worked as the Lead Business Instructor at Brown Mackie College in Greenville, S.C. He teaches more than twenty (20) courses on Small Business Management, Human Resources, Corporate and Personal Finance, Corporate Ethics, Micro and Macro Economics, Organizational Behavior and many others.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Business Management from SUNY’s Empire State College; A Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology in Richmond, Virginia;

He has completed Doctorate studies in Educational Leadership and Management at Argosy University and is currently writing his Doctoral dissertation on the socio-economic factors that influence African-American males in a Private Post-Secondary Academic Environment.

Prior to joining Brown Mackie College, Professor Simmons worked in Washington, DC for a billion dollar not-for-profit organization for eighteen (18) years as an internal Training Consultant, Project Manager and Coordinator. Professor Simmons has more than thirty-five (35) years experience in the public and private sector specializing in Banking and financial management.

He has owned and operated a licensed financial consulting firm as well as organized and co-founded two non-profit 501 c(3) entities created to meet the literacy and family development needs of local communities.

Professor Simmons serves the community in various capacities most notably as the ordained Senior Pastor of the Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church located in Greer, SC; he is a Palmetto Society United Way Member; Advisory Board Member for the United Negro College Fund of the Upstate; Board Secretary of Nehemiah Redevelopment Corporation; recently installed President of Greater Greer Rotary Club; President of the Enoree River Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education; a lifetime member of the NAACP; and Board Member of Maple Creek Inter-Developmental Family Life Center.

Professor Simmons has national and inter-national experience in Business and Corporate management as he has completed missionary service in five (5) countries serving on three continents including Jerusalem, Israel; Guyanna, South America, and Johannesburg, Africa.

Professor Simmons is married to Mrs. Sonia R. Simmons and will celebrate thirty-six (36) years of bliss on November 4, 2015. They have three adult children and four adorable grandchildren.

Professor Simmons passion is teaching, learning, and serving others. He believes and lives the motto “seek to serve and not to be served” …..putting the needs of others ahead of self.   In this manner, one helps self by helping others.
